- Top-ups are irreversible — locked for retirement, housing and education uses excluded.
- Top-ups count toward your Full Retirement Sum (S$220,400 for those turning 55 in 2026; S$228,200 for the 2027 cohort) and earn ~4%/yr. Once your SA reaches the FRS, top-ups stop — the projection above respects that cap (growth above FRS continues).
- From 2025, your SA closes at 55 — savings above the FRS flow to your OA (withdrawable) and the rest forms your Retirement Account. This calculator stops at 54 for that reason.
- All personal reliefs (self top-up S$8,000 + family top-ups S$8,000 + SRS + donations) share an S$80,000/year cap.
- FRS-capped is the real world: top-ups stop when SA reaches the FRS. The “no FRS cap” column is theoretical — shown so you can see exactly what the rule costs you.
- Relief math: each year's top-up × your marginal rate, stopping at the FRS. Reconciliation below shows both scenarios to the dollar.
- Tax relief is worth most when your marginal rate is high — at 15%+, this is close to free money; at 2%, mostly a lock-in.
- Keep an emergency buffer before locking cash away.
